Well . . . temporary repairs are in place and seem to be holding. Damage to the lining is a difficult and time-intensive repair to do. We elected a temp fix to get the springs up and running once more.
|Bear Den damage
The image above shows where these vandals ripped the entire length of the seam in the Bear Den pool. As you can guess . . . the pool was incapable of holding water for long. Fortunately, Lobster Pot was not touched . . . perhaps because these same vandals had already damaged the Lobster Pot feeds so that that pool was full of only ice-cold water (I have to guess the creeps didn’t want to immerse themselves in that cold water just to rip up the Lobster Pot side). Both pools out of order …
Repairs have cost several hundred already. Come spring and the snow-melt we will have to make the repairs more permanent (liners and repairs to the spring sources). For now, temp fixes have made both pools fully functional. There is plenty of invigorating hot spring water coming into both pools for a nice, comfortable soak.
We are considering requests on a limited basis for the rest of the winter season. Winter is the best time to visit Scenic . . . but Scenic is a fragile place and we must protect it from overuse. We will also be stepping up our campaign to stop this useless trespassing and vandalism. Thanks to all of those who are now stepping up to the plate and helping out. Rick and Matt
